Fehlermeldung ldm_validate_partition_table()

Beim booten kommt bei mir laufend die Fehlermeldung
Fehlermeldung: ldm_validate_partition_table() disk read failed

Ich kann nicht sagen, welches Laufwerk das sein soll was von diesem Fehler betroffen ist. Alle werden ordungsgemäß gemountet. Kann lesen schreiben, alles.
Wer kann mir die Fehlermeldung erklären ?

Hmm, selber hatte ich dieses Prob noch nicht. Allerdings hab ich folgendes dazu in einem anderen Forum gefunden. Vielleicht bringt es dich ja weiter.

Before doing anything else, backup all your data. NOW! Everything. Anything you could still need from your Windows partitions too.

Norton antivirus and cleensweep should not touch linux partitions. I think there is no relationship between installing them and your filesystem breaking. Must be something else.

How long did the linux system run? Did you install it just recently or are you working with it for months already?

Other possible causes are:
- activated "boot sector virus protection" in your BIOS
- a virus
- using a DMA mode too high
- hardware failure (controller, cable, harddisk, mainboard, ... - hard to tell which part)
- wrong settings of your hard disk in the BIOS (CHS, LBA mode) - afaik this is only dangerous if it was like that during installation, so this probably does not apply.
- USING PARTITION MAGIC or other partition managing tools
- Maybe you did not shutdown or linux hang the last time you used it?

What else have you done since you booted linux the last time successfully? Try to remember every detail, it could be nearly anything.

As last step you can do this:
Go to the homepage of the manufacturer of your hard disk (maxtor, seagate, wd, ...) and download their diagnostic tool. It is usually located somewhere in the support area. Run it (you will probably unavoidably lose ALL your data! read the instructions carefully!) and see if it reports any errors.

Or just reinstall Mandrake, then sit and wait and watch if it was a one-time problem or if other stuff breaks too...
