Hallo,
ich wollte auf unserem Puretec Root Server mal aus spass den Kernel neukompilieren, ging auch ohne Probleme, nur nach dem reboot startet der Server nicht mehr!
Komme zum Glück noch per Rescuesystem drauf und kann die bootmsg.log auslesen, nur verstehe nicht so ganz, woran es liegt, hier mal ein Auszug aus dem Ende:

Hi,

Viel steht da nicht, aber "running e2fsck is recommended" ist mal ein guter Vorschlag. Wenn du noch eine Shell bekommst, lass man e2fsck über alle Partitionen laufen. Sie sollten aber nicht gemountet sein.

Hast Du die Module auch neu erzeugt?
Ist das Dateisystem der Rootpartition im Kernel oder als Modul gebaut?
Hast du für Deinen Kernel eine initrd angelegt?

Theoretisch müsste das Kernelimage vmlinuz.suse noch da sein. Boot doch mal darüber, dann kommst Du wenigstens auf das System...

ja, habe per rescue system von puretec gestartet und die platte überprüfen lassen und nach dem Neustart ging wieder nichts! Gleiche Fehlermeldung um bootmsg.log.

Hast Du die Module auch neu erzeugt?
Ist das Dateisystem der Rootpartition im Kernel oder als Modul gebaut?
Hast du für Deinen Kernel eine initrd angelegt?

Habe es so gemacht, wie hier (http://faq.puretec.de/server/root_server/bugfx/3.html) beschrieben, nur mit kernel-2.1.18.tar.gz vom gleichen puretec server!

Theoretisch müsste das Kernelimage vmlinuz.suse noch da sein. Boot doch mal darüber, dann kommst Du wenigstens auf das System

Ich geh' jetzt einfach mal davon aus, dass Du Dich hier ----^---- nur vertippt hast.

Am LILO-Promt (beim booten also) [TAB] oder [shift] drücken und dann an dem "boot:"-Promt "vmlinuz.suse" (oder wie der alte Kernel auch immer heisst) eingeben.

tja, ist wie gesagt ein root server, d.h. das ich nur per console drauf herumwerkeln kann.

Nachdem nun die Platte repariert wurde geht es trotzdem nicht, gibt aber ne andere bootmsg.log:

Hi,

in der boot.msg kann ich keine Fehlermeldung sehen. Das ist alles unauffällig...
Außer dass puretec einen Debian Kernel auf Suse laufen lässt - aber das muß ja nix schlechtes sein.

Um die vmlinuz.suse zu booten machst Du:

# Rettungssystem booten
# Rootpartition nach /mnt mounten
#Changeroot auf /mnt

chroot /mnt

#bootpartition mounten

mount /boot

# lilo auf vmlinuz.suse setzen

lilo -R suse

umount /boot

#chroot verlassen

exit
umount /mnt
reboot

Dann schaun mer mal weiter ....

Nun, wollte das gerade machen, doch schon beim 2. Schritt kommt ein Fehler:

Wie kann ich den beheben?

Ok, /boot ist gemountet, und lilo gibt folgendes aus:

Aber
lilo -R suse gibt das aus:

Wie kann ich das nun definieren? Sollte doch so gehen...

es wird ja langsam. Komische Namensgebung von Puretec, aber OK,

in diesem fall muß es

heißen.

Bringt leider nichts! Bootet wieder wie vorher, bootmsg sagt das gleiche!

Was soll ich noch probieren? ODer lieber gleich den Server zurücksetzen lassen? Noch ist nichts wichtiges drauf!

Eventuell als kleine Hilfe: SuSE verwendet eine InitialRamdisk, evtl. fehlt die...
man kann si mit mk_initrd und anschliessenden lilo erzeugen. Was für ne SuSE-Version war davor drauf --> 2.4.4 = SuSE 7.2 soweit ich weiss...
wenn du /etc mounten kannst, mache ersteinmal in /etc/fstab aus ext3 überall ext2, kannst du später wieder umändern, eventuell liegt dort das Problem.
